Frequently Asked Questions

Which is better, Bear or Tempurpedic?

Both Bear and Tempurpedic have distinct strengths. The right choice depends on your sleep position, budget, and priorities. Read our head-to-head comparison for a detailed breakdown of firmness, cooling, pressure relief, and value to find the best fit for your needs.

How do Bear and Tempurpedic compare in price?

Prices vary and change frequently. Both brands run regular sales — check current pricing on each brand's site or Amazon before making a decision. Factor in the trial period length and warranty when comparing total value, not just the sticker price.

Which has the better warranty, Bear or Tempurpedic?

Warranty terms differ between brands. Key factors: length of coverage, what triggers a valid claim (typically visible sagging over 1–1.5 inches), and whether returns are free or have a fee. A longer trial period is often more practically useful than a longer warranty for most buyers.

Bear built its brand around athletic recovery. The Celliant cover — made with minerals that convert body heat to far-infrared light — is FDA-cleared and claims to increase local circulation and oxygen levels during sleep. Tempur-Pedic built its brand around material science. TEMPUR foam, originally developed from NASA research, is the benchmark for pressure-relieving memory foam.

These are fundamentally different value propositions. Bear is for the runner or gym-goer who wants to sleep faster and recover better. Tempur-Pedic is for the person with chronic back or joint pain who needs the best pressure relief available. For more context, see the Bear full review and our best mattresses for back pain guide.

The Celliant Question

Bear's main differentiator is Celliant. The FDA-clearance is real — the technology converts body heat into infrared energy, which studies show can increase tissue oxygen saturation. In my own testing I can't measure cellular oxygen levels, but I can measure sleep temperature: the Bear ran about 1.5°F cooler than the Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt over the same night.

Tempur-Pedic's TEMPUR foam, by contrast, is simply the best pressure-relieving material I've tested. On a pressure mapping pad, the Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Medium showed the most even weight distribution of any mattress in this comparison set. If you have hip, shoulder, or joint pain, that matters more than Celliant.

At roughly $1,600 less for the Queen, Bear offers excellent foam performance and the Celliant advantage. The only areas where Tempur-Pedic is unambiguously superior are pressure relief and long-term foam durability.

VERDICT
Bear for active people on a budget; Tempur-Pedic for maximum pressure relief
Bear's Celliant cover is a legitimate differentiator for athletic recovery — it's FDA-cleared as a general wellness product. But Tempur-Pedic's foam engineering remains the industry standard for pressure relief and durability. Your choice depends on whether recovery speed or chronic pain relief matters more.
Buy Bear If...
You're active or athletic and want recovery-focused sleep technology.
You sleep hot and want Celliant's far-infrared heat management.
You want strong foam performance without Tempur-Pedic's premium price.
