What the Coil Base Changes

The GelFlex Grid feels identical on both beds at first contact — cool, slightly springy, with that distinctive no-pressure-point sensation. The difference shows up when you add weight. On the all-foam Original, testers over about 230 lbs sank further and reported the Grid bottoming out against the foam base under the hips. On the Hybrid, the coils push back, keeping heavier sleepers supported on top of the Grid where it works best.

Edge support is the other clear gap. The Original's foam perimeter compresses noticeably when you sit on the side; the Hybrid's coil-reinforced edge holds firm, giving you the full sleep surface. For couples, that's meaningful usable space.
